Authorities

Both the Colorado Constitution and the Colorado Statutes encourage local governments to work together cooperatively to achieve higher levels of service, efficiencies and cost savings — exactly our philosophy for business and government! Our team members are among the most experienced in the state in joining local governments together to provide services through a variety of legal mechanisms, from simple intergovernmental service agreements to formally established separate governmental entities providing water, sanitation, water quality, drainage, fire rescue, ambulance, and fire mitigation/forest health services at a regional level.

We actively serve existing service authorities, including water authorities, water and sanitation authorities, fire authorities, and 911/ETSA authorities. Authorities need legal advice on many of the same issues as other local governments, including contract review, personnel matters, and open meetings and open records.

Specific to our 911 Authority clients, we work with them on specific 911 issues such as surcharges and funding, PUC hearings, E-911 implementation, and legislative updates.
